Perfect Peace

You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:3-4 NKJV
 
One of my friends was going through a difficult time in her marriage.  Each day she shared the struggles that kept her marriage in turmoil.  One struggle, pain from past relationships, contributed to communication problems in their marriage. We prayed together that God would restore the relationship He divinely orchestrated. 
One morning she shared a scripture from Isaiah 26:3-4, that gave her peace when she prayed about her marriage.  That morning we prayed together for her marriage and a situation at work that was troubling me. 
The next day, as I read from Isaiah 26 in my bible, the verses jumped off the page for me as I considered God’s solution to the problems in my work environment.
Several weeks later, I revisited the verses in Isaiah 26 when my husband, Jack, died suddenly of a heart attack.  On my first night after Jack’s death, I lay alone in our bed, the events of the morning kept playing over and over in my head.  How can you find perfect peace when your world has been turned upside down? 
I did the only thing I knew to do.  I picked up my bible and found Isaiah 26: 3-4 and I read it over and over again.  Then I prayed and asked the Lord for His perfect peace. All during the night, I continued to pick up my bible and read the scripture and ask the Lord for His perfect peace. Little by little, I began to feel the peace of God wash over me.  Over the next few days, weeks, and months the shock of what had happened lingered and left my world forever changed.  But of one thing I am sure, the peace of God came, and I felt His presence in my life like never before.
Let’s apply the truth of God’s word in Isaiah 26:3-4.
Daily declare out loud:
I will keep my mind fixed on the Lord and He will bring perfect peace in this storm.
I will find strength as I trust in the Lord.
 
Father, you know my heart and the pain that I am feeling as I grieve the loss.  I thank you for your perfect peace that comes when I keep my mind fixed on You.  I trust you to strengthen me and help me take the next step on the path to healing.
