New Shoes

Lord how wonderfully you bless the righteous.   Your favor wraps around each one and covers them under your canopy of kindness and joy.

In the middle of our shopping trip we heard, “Good afternoon, shoppers.  We have a special for the next 20 minutes.”  This “Blue Light Special” announcement brought joy to my heart.  My daughter and I were shopping for shoes for her children. 

After surveying the prices of shoes, the clearance rack was the first stop.  Two-year-old, Elianna walked to this rack, selected a pair of shoes, put them on and zipped them up all by herself.  I thought, those brown shoes are hiking boots, not right for a little girl.  Elianna liked the shoes and would not take them off. 

The shoes for Aarao, who is almost 7, cost as much as I would pay for my shoes because he graduated from Children’s size into Youth size.  However, he found the right shoes, orange tennis shoes, on sale.  Next to find the right shoes was five-year-old, Aliyah, pink tennis shoes with lights.

Boxes stacked up high, Aarao skipping in his new shoes, Aliyah dancing with delight in her pink shoes that light up, Elianna trying on another pair of shoes, with big white bows, this was the scene set for the manager who had walked to the back of the store.  The manager commented, “looks like everyone is getting shoes!” 

After a few minutes, an announcement over the intercom, interrupted our joyful scene; “Attention shoppers, for the next twenty minutes, all shoes in the store are buy one, get one half off.”  The warmth of the Lord’s hand rested on us as we received His favor. We walked out with three happy children, four pairs of shoes, and the blessing and favor from the Lord.

Look for God’s favor today and respond with thanksgiving.
